What is luxury coffee?

The Cambridge Dictionary defines luxury as “great comfort, especially as provided by expensive and beautiful things.”

Here at Boun Beans we want to bring you this luxury. We want to bring you personalized, premium quality coffees, hand roasted in an authentic method that is unique to our roastery. By definition we are a roastery that is all about luxury. But you might be wondering not what the dictionary says about luxury, but what do we mean when we say luxury? Luxury is about the highest quality. You wouldn’t see a beaten-up car, with plastic-y components coming from off the forecourt of a premium and luxury car maker. You won’t see beans on toast in a Michelin star restaurant. In the same way, Boun Beans are committed to the highest quality coffees we can find. That means sourcing rare coffees. Working hard to find really well grown and special coffees. In particular we often mention that we only source Grade 1 or equivalently graded beans. That means only the absolute best coffees can be put into the Boun Beans range. We accept nothing but the top quality. This is also true when it comes to our roasting. We hand roast and we spend time and effort getting the best results from these coffees. We do not want to lose the beauty of the coffee during the roasting, but enhance it. And in the process, make the coffee an even higher quality and an even more luxurious part of your life. Luxury doesn’t need to be unaffordable. Unlike our analogies of cars and Michelin star restaurants, luxury coffee doesn’t need to cost the earth. While there are many amazing, expensive beans and we do buy some of these – like our Jamaican Blue Mountain or Colombian Geisha – we are blessed with the truth that great coffee won’t break the bank.

You might spend £20 on a good bottle of wine or £50 on a special spirit for your cabinet; but coffees from Boun Beans are more rare and special than these, and will on average cost you less than £1 per cup. So why would you buy anything else? You might be and asking how it is possible to get such quality coffee for so little. The sad truth is that coffee is undervalued on a whole. It is because the cheap coffees are so very cheap, that even great, rare and special coffee can still be affordable to most people. When you buy coffee from Boun Beans you are also supporting the movement to improve wages and livelihoods for coffee farmers around the World. Luxury in coffee means comfort for you but also more comfort for everyone involved in the amazing journey each bag of coffee takes. When we talk about luxury coffee at Boun Beans this is what we really mean: coffee that is of the highest quality, that is rare and special, that is affordable but still supports farmers. It is our mission and our hope that you will enjoy this little piece of luxury that Boun Beans offers. That you could share that joy with your friends and family. Being luxury doesn’t mean being an elitist, it means giving even the small things – like coffee – time and attention. We truly believe you will love the coffees we source and roast.

Thanks for being a supporter of luxury coffees and of Boun Beans.
